When giving stocks or mutual funds… You will receive a tax deduction for the fair market value of your securities at the time of donation, and you will pay no capital gains tax on the difference between your cost and the fair market value.

The benefits and process for giving marketable securities (stocks, mutual funds, etc.)
If you would like to donate from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF), please ask your DAF representative to mail your donation to: The Compass Evangelical Free Church (DBA The Compass Church), Attn: Finance Department, 2244 W. 95th Street, Suite 300, Naperville, IL 60564Have your DAF representative include your name.
If you are at least 70 1⁄2, you can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from your IRA to The Compass Evangelical Free Church (DBA The Compass Church) without adding a penny to your taxable income. If you are of Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) age, the amount you decide to give will typically count toward your required minimum distribution (up to $105,000). Check with your tax professional for your specific details.
