Week 5: The Wedding Feast of the Lamb
Jeff Griffin
Revelation 19:1-10
Revelation 19:6-9
One of the epic events that biblical prophecy describes is the “The Wedding Feast of the Lamb.” By studying this future banquet, we can better understand God’s heart toward us and the nature of our relationship with Him.
Kicking if off: Jeff confessed to not enjoying wedding receptions as much as some do. Specifically, he sighted his dislike for crowds of strangers, dancing, and formal attire. Is thereanything you dislike about wedding receptions? If so, confess it to the group.
1. Reread Revelation 19:7 (NLT)
“Let us be glad and rejoice! For the time has come for the wedding feast of the Lamb!” This verse commands us to “rejoice”.
What is the reason for the joy we are to feel on that day?
2. Reread Revelation 19:9 (NLT)
The angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb!”
Why do you think the angel instructs John to write down this particular statement?
3. Reread Hosea 2:19 (NLT)
“I will make you my wife forever and show you unfailing love.”
In addition to many Old Testament verses like this, the New Testament refers to the church as “the bride of Christ”. Why does God use “marriage” to describe our relationship with Him?
4. The great banquet is called “The Wedding Feast of the Lamb.” Why do you think that Jesus is portrayed as a “lamb” at his wedding? Reread Ephesians 5:25 to help you discern why:
“Husbands, show the same kind of love to your wives as Christ showed to the church when he died for her.
5. Reread Isaiah 25:6-8 (NLT)
The Lord will spread a wonderful feast for all the people of the world. It will be a delicious banquet with well-aged wine and choice meat. There he will remove the cloud of gloom, the shadow of death that hangs over the earth. He will swallow up death forever! The Lord will wipe away all tears!
What do you see here that increases your excitement for The Wedding Feast of the Lamb?
6. Reread Isaiah 62:5 (NIV)
As a groom rejoices over his bride, so will God rejoice over you!
How is it that God can find joy in relating to us?
Wrapping It Up: Pray that God would help us see Him increasingly as a groom gushing with love for us!
