Jackpot - The Amazing Benefits Found in Jesus

Week 3: Hope April 30, 2023

Romans 5:2

Jeff Griffin, Senior Pastor

The next benefit found in Christ is “hope.” In our study, we discovered that our confident hope in what the Lord has planned in heaven should give us immense joy today!

Kicking It Off:

Hope is about looking forward to the future. What are you looking forward to this spring and summer?

Discussion:

1. Reread Romans 5:2 (KJV) We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

How can we find joy in the present because of the future?

2. In an effort to understand what the “glory of God” is, reread Exodus 33:18-19 Moses said, “Show me your glory.” And the Lord said, “I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you.”

Based on these verses, what is the “glory of God”?

3. Reread 1 Corinthians 13:12 (CEV) All we can see of God today is like a cloudy reflection in a mirror. Later we will see him face to face.

How do you imagine we will encounter God in heaven?

4. Reread Exodus 34:29 Moses was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with the Lord.

Explain how this verse relates to the saying: “We Become What We Behold.”

5. Reread 2 Corinthians 3:18 We, who contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.

What does it mean to “contemplate the Lord’s glory”?

6. Reread Romans 5:2 (KJV) We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God.

Do you agree that the best part of heaven will be the “glory of God”? How can that be so?

7. Jeff explained that storm chasers are committed to 1) Studying, 2) Chasing, and 3) Delighting in

storms. How is it similar to be a “Glory Chaser”?

Wrapping Up:

Christians should be emotionally impacted today by their anticipation of heaven. Pray that we would get excited about seeing God’s glory in heaven. Pray that we would be so excited that we find real joy in the anticipation.
